Adam Gilchrist was born on November 14, 1971 in Bellingen, Australia .Adam Gilchrist, the
former wicket keeper from Australia, is regarded as the greatest wicket keeper
batsman of all time. The record-breaking keeper holds the record for the most
number of dismissals in ODIs (472) and the most for Australia in Test cricket.
Gilchrist was famed for his integrity as a walker when he believed he was out,
sometimes contrary to the umpire's decision.
He made his debut for Australia in 1996 and
scored over 15,000 runs in international cricket. The century he scored in the
2006 Ashes against England in Perth was the second fastest in the history of
Test cricket; he reached his century in 57 balls. He scored 149 off 104 balls
in the 2007 World Cup fina lthat Australia won.
He has scored a total of 5570 runs in Tests
and 9619 runs in ODIs. Among his other accolades, he holds the record for the
most number of sixes in Tests, most number of Test and ODI centuries by a
wicketkeeper, holds the record of the second-fastest ODI century for Australian
(100 off 67 balls). He has 416 dismissals against his name in Test cricket. He
retired from international cricket in March 2008.
